Because private tutoring is unique and customized to every student’s needs, it is hard to define “typical” tutoring uses or schedules. However, most students are successful scheduling at least one hour a week with the tutor who specializes in the content area they need help with. If a student is struggling on the SAT Math section, one hour with a math tutor over 6-8 weeks should suffice. If a student would like to work on all sections of the tests, 2-3 hours a week may be needed. Private tutoring before a student’s first attempt at SAT or ACT should consist of 6-8 weeks of preparation. Before a student retakes an exam, less time is needed if the student is already comfortable with the timing, format, and pacing of the tests.
Tutoring can be scheduled at the student or family’s convenience, in the family home or in a nearby public space such as library or coffee shop, in Pearland, Friendswood, and Clear Lake areas.
