Students in the Class of 2017 have dealt with many changes in the past year: FAFSA, a new SAT, a possible Coalition
application, and now A&M is changing its admissions for Engineering students.
Texas A&M University is introducing an Early Action deadline of October 15 for students wishing to major in Engineering fields. Its regular deadline of December 1 will still stand for all other applicants, although A&M always suggests “the earlier, the better” usually requesting applications and supporting documents in September and October.
Engineering applicants who apply by October 15 will receive an earlier decision too, by mid-December. Applicants will be considered for:
- Full admission to Texas A&M at College Station
- Engineering Academy at Texas A&M Galveston
- Blinn Engineering Academy (Blinn Community College)
Texas A&M is hoping that separating their engineering applicants from the regular pool of applicants will allow for earlier decisions for everyone. They are reporting that admissions decisions for the remainder will be completed in mid-January, instead of the typical mid-February, such as the case in 2016.
Additional note. Texas A&M is introducing a “Shoebox Questions”, which they say is optional but we all strongly encourage students to complete, where students can share “Additional Personal Information”.
