Every year, Brand College Consulting works with students and families in need, in an effort to help them through the college search and application process.
Jolyn Brand serves as a Volunteer Academic Coach for underserved students through ScholarMatch and on the Advisory Board for CollegePlannerPro.
Through Communities in School, Jolyn also volunteers with pregnant or parenting high school students in CCISD. As a former teen mom herself, Jolyn understands the difficulties in continuing education while raising a family. To assist, Brand College Consulting offers free college consulting services to teenagers who are pregnant or parenting. In addition to helping these students find a successful path, Jolyn hopes to serve as an encouraging role model in their lives.
In the past, Jolyn volunteered for the Friendswood High School PTO in positions of Hospitality Chair, Scholarship Committee Chair, and Vice President. Jolyn also volunteered with the YWCA Houston to offer free college planning services to girls and young women in need. As a previous Vice- President of the Board for the YWCA Houston, she also assisted the young women in residence, who either aged out of the foster care system or were homeless before the YWCA assisted them. With support and encouragement in the right direction, these young women enroll in college, find employment, and learn life skills.
Students or families who meet any of these criteria are encouraged to contact Jolyn to inquire about free assistance in college admissions, including free hourly consultations, essay editing, and financial aid reviews:
- Students who are pregnant or parenting teenagers
- Students who are current or former foster children
- Students experiencing homeless
- Students on free/reduced school lunch
- First-generation students (whose parents did not attend college)
Students may also be eligible for reduced or free attendance at our College Prep Camps over the summer, to get assistance with their college applications or essays.
If you are interested in working with BCC or know someone who is, please use the contact form to inquire about pro bono services.
